Happy Easter

He is risen, truly he is risen! Happy Easter from my family to yours! Since both my sister and I live hours from our parents it is always a special occasion when we can all get together. While spending some quality family time after taking our yearly Easter family pictures I was inspired to pull up last years Easter picture -- looks like we were blessed with some warm and sunny weather last year. How gorgeous was my sister's long hair? She grows it out yearly to chop it off and donate to Locks of Love which makes it all the more beautiful!

Both my top and skirt are Lauren Conrad from Kohl's. Don't forget to go use the coupon code BLOGS10 for 10% your next purchase until May 10th!

A few more dogs have been added to the family in recent years!

Neon Pink & Blue

Every gal needs to own at least one navy and white stripped wardrobe piece -- I think it may be in a female handbook somewhere. Whether it be a skirt, tank top, shorts or flowy blouse it's a staple piece for the warm weather seasons. I snagged this little number from a small boutique in Southern California so, unfortunately, I can't steer you in the right directions but I anticipate them being in just about every store for Spring. Although the length doesn't quite meet the standard for the classroom it does for some happy hour drinks by the water. Mimosas, anyone?

Neon Pink Blouse -- $12.99, J.Crew clearance (plus my teacher discount). | Stripped Skirt -- Boutique in Southern California. | Tassle Necklace -- $13.00, LC Lauren Conrad. | Monogrammed Necklace -- gift via Etsy. | Gold ring -- $18.00, Kohls.

Lime & Orange

Alas! The East Coast is blessed with a sunny day. By no means a warm day which means Spring is still hiding around the corner. Unfortunately, it ruined my plans of picture taking at the beach but none the less I was able to make it out to snap some pics, absorb a little Vitamin D and spend some time by the water.

My official Spring Break {one of the many perks of being a school teacher -- and yes we look forward to it more than the students} starts next Friday so I am crossing my fingers the good Lord graces the East Coast with some gorgeous spring weather we've all been craving!

While anxiously waiting for Kohl's to put out LC Lauren Conrad's Spring line I came across this fun flowy blouse. I'd be lying if I said I haven't already worn it way more than acceptable but I adore the fun pop of lime green. So expect it to be popping up again and again throughout the season!

Lime Blouse -- $30.00 , LC Lauren Conrad. | Stripped Skirt -- $7.90 , Forever 21. | Nude Flats -- $40.00, Steve Madden via DSW. | Honeycomb Bracelet -- Francescas.

If you are featuring some fun spring looks leave a comment with your blog below, I would love to take a peak! Don't forget to follow my site and instagram {@xochristinemarie} for daily pics!

Spring Nail Polish Favorites

Happy first day of Spring, ladies!

I hope your first day of spring actually felt like spring. We had another cold and overcast day which lent to pants and a heavy knit sweater. There has got to be some rule out there that forbids this?
Where is my early spring you promised me, groundhog?

I have a rack of about 10 spring outfits I am dying to snap shots of and share with you all. What am I waiting for you might ask-- the weather to allow it! Each day I plan for it we have been given a cloudy overcast or rainy day, dag nabbit. So I promise many outfit posts coming in the upcoming weeks...with gorgeous scenery! I am looking forward to not having this problem when we live in sunny California in a few months. {hurry up July!}

It's no surprise I have a little thing for nail polishes {who doesn't now a days?} and spring, by far, has some of the funnest shades. Since the weather isn't allowing for outfit posts just yet I have put together a collection of some of my instagram pictures that show my top picks for nail colors this spring!

Still curious what I am wearing in the classroom -- follow me on instagram @xochristinemarie
In the meantime, keep checking back and don't forget to check out my post with a Kohl's Coupon Code!

How- to Beachy Waves

My most viewed post to date is my How to do a Sock Bun without the Sock post which I originally posted because its a fast a super easy hair style for the classroom. Warm weather is approaching and we all know once summer hits we all crave that effortless beachy look. After years of hair dying, blow drying, straightening and curling I am happy to try any new hair style that requires little to no heat! This beachy wavy hair does just that!

I do have naturally wavy hair but with no products it looks like a frizzy mess! After browsing pinterest I came across a summery easy way of achieving beautiful waves without a ton of damage or time. After testing it out for a few weeks I knew I had to share! Ladies, here is a super easy and fun hair style for the spring and summer that requires 10 minutes -- tops!

The final product -- keep reading for the step-by-step How- to

All you'll need:
- A heat taming spray, I use any time I use any type of heat on my hair no matter how little!
- Sea Salt Spray
- Small hair ties
- Straightener

This is what I am left with after letting my hair air dry.

I have fairly fine hair so I am able to get away with sectioning my hair into quarters. You'll notice I start my first section on the top and somewhat high.

If you have thick hair I would suggest adding a couple more braids -- the more/tinnier the braids the tighter the wave.

I then continue with a braid on the underneath.
I repeat for the other side.

I am left with this beauty! 2 braids on each side.

I then place my straightener around the braid. I press down firmly for a quick second (and by quick I mean just enough time to secure a tight squeeze and then I release)

Continue all the way down the braid.

 Repeat on the opposite side.

I let the braids cool down for about 2 or 3 minutes and then take out each braids. Just enough time to put a face of make up on when I am in a hurry!

I finish off with a Sea Salt Spray -- the brand I use is Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texurizing Sea Salt Spray, I picked mine up at Urban Outfitters for $8.00.

The final product -- a lose beachy wave :)
