Summer White

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you all spent the long weekend surround by friends, family, sun and some good grillin'! I was lucky enough to spend my weekend with all of the above & my Laguna Beach sunburn is now peeling 50 shades of brown as a result -- eek! To cap the weekend the honey and I got dressed for a date night at one of my favorite places in town.

This gal loves a flowy summer dress and some wedges in the summer time and this quick ensemble is ready for a some dinner and drinks.

Memorial day is not only for beaching, pooling, and grilling -- if you've turned on a TV in the last 2 weeks then you know Memorial Day Sales are in just about every store. Lucky for me I was able to make it to the mall where I popped into Express for their 40% everything sale. I posted about this same sale a few months back where I scored some great summer items that I couldn't quite wear yet. Well, I've worn those goodies {and loved them} and I had to head back in for more.

These pictures were snapped right before dinner and both our tummies were growling so iphone quality will have to do. I think there comes a point in every bloggers life where you step back and say "ahh!"  so this is what other bloggers feel like when you have just about a million things on your plate and blogging has officially taken a back seat. With our move quickly approaching and the school year quickly ending I feel there are just not enough time in the day.

School countdown -- 12 days {thank you Jesus! Mama needs a break}
Number of things I have to get done in that 12 days -- 154,453,398
Can you see where my stress level is at? This long weekend and date night were well deserved and much needed!

Don't leave just yet -- I will continue to be posting {& I have some fun ideas coming, too!} so bare with me while I juggle all this craziness and keep checking back!

White Dress -- $25.00, Express 40% off sale. | Wedges -- Target, old. | Teal Necklace -- $12.00, Francesca's. | Long Tassel Necklace -- Lauren Conrad. | Clutch -- H&M last season.

Although I have only snuck in a post or two a week I am still an instagramin' queen so head on over and follow me at @xochristinemarie! I hope you're all enjoying your sundress and flip flop weather as much as I am.

California Recap

I am returning to Virginia with more California memories, a smile on my face and one serious sunburn. Our long awaited trip back West for a cousin's wedding has come and gone and we had an absolute blast! No doubt, we were not happy to have to leave our little paradise with family members and friends we haven't seen in almost 2 years! But the plane, work, and real life were awaiting us.

The ceremony took place at Historic Hotel Laguna right on the water in Laguna Beach, California. I would be lying if I said I didn't want to go back and watch reruns of Laguna Beach now {my inner 16 year old was super giddy and wishing I would run into a cast member or two...shhh don't tell} Although I had driven through Laguna a number of times this was my first stay in the little artsy town.

After a beautiful wedding we enjoyed the reception over looking the water with drinks, yummy food, and the ever so popular photo booth. We had a blast!

Now you see where my boyfriend gets his good looks, huh? I mean I might be a little biased but that is one good lookin' bunch!

The day after the wedding was geared towards catching up with family and friends and soaking up some California sunshine. Right behind us is the famous view of Laguna -- we are kinda covering up the Laguna Lifeguard stand I'm sure you have all seen on TV-- oops!

As I have mentioned time and time again, you can't keep this girl away from the beach for too long.  My boyfriend and I have frequented beaches up and down the East and West Coast and it never fails we take a corny 'couples beach shot.' Babe laughs and thinks they all look the same but each one holds memories from the entire beach stay! Silly boys just don't understand do they? {hehe}
Enjoying my Pina Colada and some beach service...ahh the life...

By Sunday night we had hugged and kissed our family and friends Good-Bye and it was just the two of us again. We showered {a quite painful shower with this sunburn I might add} and got ready to walk the hills of Laguna. We ended our stay with this gorgeous view from dinner. Looks like a postcard doesn't it?

Now that our vacation has come and gone I can get back to blogging and to my kiddos at school. Wait, I don't quite think I am ready to get back to real life yet.... {siiiigh}

Don't forget to follow my blog so you can see some upcoming outfit for this hot weather that has finally decided to stick around!

California Thus Far

Hello from beautiful Huntington Beach, California! The honey and I landed in OC Thursday afternoon and were greeted by perfect weather and gorgeous palm trees. But then again, when visiting Cali who expects anything less?

If you have read my About Me section here on the blog you know we are planning a move to California this summer so not only is our short 4 day trip filled with soaking up the sun, rehearsal dinner, wedding, family and friends but we also spent the majority of our Friday apartment hunting. The word stressful doesn't quite sum up the experience. However, I was thankful to get to put my toes in the sand and snap a couple pics of my outfit.

I couldn't show you pictures of my day without adding in some scenery shots... that just wouldn't be right of me ;)

Thursday Night Huntington Beach Pier Walk

Rehearsal Dinner Outfit. The overall vibe in this adorable beach town is laid back and the attire matches its feel. For my boyfriend's family wedding the rehearsal dinner took place at a Korean BBQ restaurant surround by 40+ family and friends. My adorable new polka dot clutch paired perfect with my casual peplum top and Sam Edelman sandals!

Gorgeous town, gorgeous weather, gorgeous day.

I will be posting outfit details in some upcoming posts! Don't forget to follow and leave a comment down!

Instagram Update

Only one more week until I am sipping a frozen drink in gorgeous Orange County, Cali! Gretch, Tamara, Heather... I am available to catch up if you have time ;)

It's no surprise I am beyond excited for this trip and the boy and I have been counting down since just about last summer. Since our trip will consist of visiting with family and friends, a full day of apartment shopping and a wedding, we have a lot to look forward to. As with any job, being out for 3 work days requires a ton of prep work -- being a teacher out for 3 days causes a monumental amount of prep work and about 10 grey hairs.

Since most of my free time has been dedicated towards lesson planning for my upcoming absences and, not to mention all the normal end of year testing, I have had little time to sneak away and do any blog shots. But that doesn't mean I am not sharing what I am wearing! If you don't already follow my instagram {@xochristinemarie} make sure to click the icon to the right and follow! For those who do follow -- A ton of Cali pics to follow -- and fingers crossed I will be posting a picture of myself holding a new set of apartment keys and will be able to give you a sneak peak of our soon- to- be beach apartment -- excuse me while I shriek with excitement!

For those of you who do not have an instagram, here is what I was found in this week. In the meantime, I have a Favorite Online Boutiques post coming up before my trip so make sure to come back and check it out! I have been doing a ton of online shopping lately and have fallen in love with a few tiny boutiques and it just wouldn't be right if I kept them all to myself!

I am sure a few of these will be spot lighted into their post once I return from Cali but until then, keep checking my instagram for my OOTDs!

I hope the spring weather has finally reached everyone and our sandals can stay on our feet for a few months!

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy

Wow... it feels like forever since I have done a nail post. With our upcoming move we have been trying to pinch some pennies and one area I have limited myself is, sadly, my nail polishes. I mean one over flowing drawer can last me awhile I guess....sigh....

However, after spotting this color on pinterest I knew I had to hunt it down. I will admit. It was all I imagined it would be! I mean with a name like flip flip fantasy how can you not smile at it? What a gorgeous and illuminating shade of coral.

I picture these nails with a bright bikini, flower in my hair while holding a glass of ice tea...ahhh I can feel summer now....

How funny is it that my hair tie is identical to my nails? I told you all I was loving these new J Crew hair ties and all their gorgeous colors! Believe it or not the perfect pairing was just a happy coincidence.

China Glaze Flip Flip Fantasy {the picture on their website clearly does not do it justice!}

Don't forget to follow my pinterest {@xochristinemarie} and blog {by clicking to the right!} 'til next time ladies -- I hope you're soaking up these pretty spring days!

Spring is full of surprises. So I am not quite sure why I still get surprised by the sudden and abrupt temperature shifts. Its no secret spring can give us some cool breezy nights so I've been finding myself breaking out the flowy sweaters for late night dinners. I guess my maxi's and tanks will have to wait another month before they get to join me on some dinner dates.

We are now only 13 days out from out California vacation! I can't wait for ya'll to see all the gorgeous backdrops that will be coming in future posts. Disclaimer: you may want to end up moving to California, too! We have a jam packed schedule while we are there for 5 short days so I will need to remind myself to take a deep breath and enjoy the salty pacific breeze.

Now of course I would not be wearing these wedges in the classroom {for those who do I give you major kudos!} so for the classroom I paired the same ensemble with a cognac colored belt and a  pair of cognac and gold accented Michael Kors sandals.

Oatmeal Blouse -- $19.99, Marshalls. | White Denim -- $34.99, Old Navy. | Belt -- $14.00, Old Navy. | Steve Madden Wedges -- $40.00, Marshalls, Old.

Navy & Teal

You ladies know I have a little {okay, a big} obsession with all things beach related. I don't just love the sand and gettin' my tan on, I adore anything that gets me near the salt water. Growing up a Navy daughter we were never too far from a body of water which might have been where this love stems from. As mentioned in other posts my closet is adorned with navy and white stripes of all kinds. Since color blocking and mixing prints has been in style I have loved pairing my teals and navy's together -- there is just something gorgeous and nautical about the combination.

My parents currently live in a small town in Maryland right on a peninsula-- which means you drive 15 minutes in any direction and you're bound to end up by the water. While visiting last weekend my mom and I enjoyed lunch near a marina after a nice stroll down the boardwalk. Doesn't get much better than that.

Is anyone else obsessing over these new elastic hair ties? No only are they better on my hair but I own them in a ton of different colors which I am constantly switching out to match my outfit. A cute and fun way to add a little somethin' somethin' if ya ask me. I picked up my pack at J. Crew for only $12.50!
Teal Skirt -- $80.00, on clearance for $30, J.Crew. | Stripped top -- Old Navy, old. | Belt -- $14.00, Old Navy. | Sandals -- $16.99, Target. | Chain bracelet -- $30.00, TJ Maxx. | Spiked bracelet -- Etsy. | Navy Blue hair tie -- J Crew.

Don't forget to follow my blog! Only 2 more weeks until I will be blogging to you from sunny Laguna Beach, California for our 5 day getaway!
