New Years Sequins

The Christmas Hangover. That feeling you get once Christmas has passed and your on a high from the family, girlfriends, and much needed lazy days yet have a headache at the thought of traveling back home, the clean up required, and knowing you have to wait a whole year to enjoy it all again. After a week home, I have a series Christmas Hangover.

After an amazing week home, the honey and I caught a flight back to California after yet another tearful goodbye at the airport. Our trips home are few and far between so it never fails tears begin to flow when the goodbye hugs begin with our families. To stop the tears we began to look forward -- think about all the funs things we were going to do once we touched down in California. First order of business, did we want Mexican food or In-n-Out? See how easy it is to cheer me up? Just mention a good meal! The next convo included New Years Eve. We are that couple who don't quite think about our NYE plans until Christmas has passed which means we have exactly one week to scramble and find something worthy of ringing in a new year.

Now that we are back home, it means unpacking, organizing our new gifts and purchases, runs to the store for returns and somehow packing up our Christmas goodies while finalizing our plans and getting ready for a work week. So as you can imagine, this week is anything but relaxing. {Give me an Amen if your in the same boat ladies!} Check out my instagram over at @xochristinemarie to see what I will be wearing this NYE but in the meantime take a peak at 3 of my favorite NYE looks for this year! What are you sure to find? Sequins, sequins, and more sequins! Don't forget about my favorite Holiday look with this adorable Pop the Champagne Tee! Because no matter what you are doing this NYE we all know a good bottle of Champs will be involved!

December Shorts

Shorts this time of year? Not an item many of us grab out of the closet in December. Thanks to tights I have been able to transition quite a few items to my winter wardrobe that would have otherwise not made the cut. My 5th grade self would shriek in horror knowing I now gravitate towards tights this time of year. When my mom would try to add them to any holiday look it was a guaranteed argument.   Oh how times have changed... thanks mom for always knowing whats up.

As mentioned in my previous holiday looks this year I love throwing in extra touches of green and red in just about every look, all while trying to not look like a walking Christmas tree advertisement that is. When I came across these simple silk shorts I knew they'd be perfect for a night of cocktails and dinner with my honey. And the fur vest? Well I mean, we've already gone over how I can't seem to stay away from vests this time of year. Is there an intervention group for them? I may need to attend their next meeting...

Pop the Champagne

If you follow my instagram, you may have noticed an increase in graphic tees. My wallet has noticed, too. I just can't seem to get enough of their casual vibe and adorable quotes. When I came across a 'Pop the Champagne' Tee on pinterest I immediately pinned it to my Style board and had one of those "I wish everything I pinned appeared in my closet" moments.

Well, not soon after, I stumbled upon Foi Clothing on instagram and saw their posting of these tops. I mean do I ever need another graphic tee? This one pretty much encompasses all that I want to say. Because lets be honest, who doesn't smile at the thought of poppin' open a bottle of your favorite bubbly.

With all the celebrating this time of year involves I knew this top would be the perfect addition to a holiday look. By throwing on a sequins bomber jacket and a pair of awesome black booties I am ready for a fun casual holiday party! Now who is ready to crack a bottle open with me?!

Gingham

Every season I have a 'staple' outfit. In the summer it tends to be a cut off short and fun flawy top. This Fall I loved hunter green cargo skinny jeans. And this winter it has been my pixie pants, black riding boots, and just about any vest. Oh yes, the vest. I could purchase a vest in just about any shape, color or print and be a very happy gal. But for winter, I am loving a black, white and a pop of color. And for the holidays I couldn't think of a better combo than red and green. There is something about the way it completes the outfit and adds a fun layer without having to throw on a coat. Which makes this California girl very happy.

Although it doesn't get too cold here in So Cal, the vest is even lined with the comfiest fur. Which is always an added bonus. After a day of errand running and a cup of Starbucks, I grabbed a sparkly clutch and was on my way to dinner with my honey.

A Sunset Christmas

Honey and I set out at sunset to take our Family Christmas card photos. Since we are sending them from sunny SoCal it is only right they took place at the beach.  We wanted to embrace the Christmas vibe without having to throw on a sweater that screams "we're taking Christmas card photos!". With a pop of red and honey wearing a green button up, I think we were able to achieve just that. Bailey girl on the other hand -- well she went all out with a sweater, scarf, and just about the most adorable  reindeer ears.

I have 2 posts coming a week in order to showcase all of my favorite holiday looks so make sure to check back before next weekend! I hope you are keeping warm and spending your days with Starbucks holiday drinks and your nights with cuddles from your loved ones!

Adios Fall

Has Thanksgiving really already come and gone? I hope you spent it surrounded my family, friends and endless casseroles! As I mentioned in a previous post, this was our first Thanksgiving spent away from our family, which I had a bit of a hard time accepting {what do you mean I have to cook?!} But all the casseroles turned out awesome, the turkey was juicy and my heart was full after FaceTiming our families and being surrounded by friends.

So not only was this the first Thanksgiving spent away from our parents, it was the first Thanksgiving spent in 80 degree weather. Yup, you heard that right. 80 degrees here in SoCal. Just when I post about finally getting some cooler weather and looking forward to really diving into my Fall wardrobe we get graced with another heatwave. But no use in complaining, I've embraced this crazy season and  smiled because next month I get to dive into my closet and reintroduce all things sequins, reds, sequins, greens, oh and did I mention sequins??

Adios Fall, Thanksgiving, and pumpkins, see you next year! Bring on Christmas!
