Transition to Spring Part 2

Remember when I mentioned skirts and long sleeves being my favorite combo for spring? I wasn't lying! This skirt is probably familiar to many Zara shoppers out there because just about everyone was trying to get their hands on one last spring. Fortunately,  Swell brought it back this year and I knew I had to make it mine!

The first thing to be addressed in this post is the fact that my skirt isn't quite a skirt...but a skort. Yes, you read that right. Did you just have memory flashbacks of your 8th grade trips down the hall wearing that floral skort of yours? We'll ladies they are back! I paired the skort with a casual oversized Brandy Melville sweater, my mineral necklace from Etsy and a chunky wedge. Together I think it represents a 'put together casual' vibe quite well. Perfect to go along with my little surfer dude back drop. Did I pull off my hang ten okay??

Transitioning to Spring

Christmas already seems forever ago. New Years has come and gone. And now Valentine's Day is behind us. Sunset is slowly getting later and later and that means one thing. Spring is just around the corner people! This may seem far fetched to all the East Coasters reading this with the recent amount of snow mother nature has thrown at you but believe it or not the first day of spring is only 30 days away! {but whose counting? ME! ME!}
Spring is without a doubt one of my favorite seasons to dress for. I love mixing long sleeves, sweaters, and jackets with skirts, shorts and dresses. I mean, c'mon, best of both worlds, am I right?

I've been super excited to style my new favorite maxi from Swell and share with you all because this isn't your average maxi. Have you seen the eCard about maxis circulating Pinterest? "Maxi's are summers version of yoga pants". Admit it you laughed.  I'd be lying if I say I didn't laugh out loud when I first saw it and hey, it can be totally true. Which is why I am obsessing over this particular maxi. The side slits add an extra pop of flirtiness and a tiny touch of detail. I can dress down {which you'll see in my spring casual post coming up with this same maxi} and dress it up for a sexy date night which is exactly what I did here. Warning: Be careful when walking down windy alleyways. It will blow up and cause guys to whistle and your boyfriend to give said guys dirty looks {HA!}

Snag this maxi here before spring is here and they are all out!

Valentine Details

I've given red plenty of attention leading up to Valentines so it's time to show pink a little love. The detailed sleeves on this flowy transparent blouse are the perfect pop of subtle pink. By adding my favorite Kendra Scott rings I think I was able to give my outfit a flirty touch of Valentine's day for a casual laid-back look.

This outfit doesn't quite overwhelm you with Valentine's colors but rather just a taste. Depending on your plans this may be just what your looking for. Since you all know our plans will spend at our home cooking with each other this may be my look for a couple drinks at the end of our night.

Beverly Hills Recap

Todays post is setup a tad differently. As promised, I am excited to begin sharing some more personal posts. Being that honey and I took our first trip up to L.A. since living here {took us long enough I know, I know} I thought this would be the perfect first lifestyle post to share with you all!

Following the Vanderpump Rules finale I had a real itch to get up to L.A. and check out SUR for myself. If that last sentence made no sense to you than that means you aren't a Bravo fanatic like myself and if thats the case -- your missing out. Oh, em, gee. With that said, I am obsessed with all things Housewives -- Orange County and Beverly Hills being my favs. If you follow my instagram then you know I had to chance to meet Gretchen last Fall and had a total fan girl moment, to say she is flawless in person is an understatement, siiiigh.

So on a pretty Saturday with no plans we decided to make the drive up to L.A. and since SUR doesn't open until dinner we decided to head over to Lisa's other restaurant for a lunch date on the porch. Of course, I was wishing to see Lisa, Giggy, and possibly a camera crew but no such luck. Still an awesome day and a yummy lunch. And with that my Bravo obsessed heart was smiling.

Outfit details: Dress -- Brandy Melville. || Cardigan -- Marshalls, old. || Shoes -- Steve Madden. || Necklaces -- Etsy, gifted.

After our  lunch we had a quick walk to reach Rodeo Dr so we decided to walk the streets, enjoy the Chinese New Year decorations and window shop.

Hope you had an amazing weekend! I already can't wait until next weekend!

Valentine Romper

Happy Friday! AH! and TGIF it is! Wow, I will admit after a full week of sick children at work I could not be happier to wake up on a Friday. Being that it's Friday, that also means Valentine's is exactly one week away. Do you have your date night outfit picked yet?!
I am head over heels in love with these flirty stockings I snagged from Nordstrom over the holidays and they were the perfect transition piece to make my romper appropriate for winter. {see how I styled it for summer here} And sorry ladies you have a multiple repeat offender with this gorgeous red blazer. Around the holidays and Valentines this blazer pays for itself again and again.

There is something so romantic about a red and black pairing as you can see by my last two Valentine's inspired posts but if thats not your thing I have some whimsical pink touches coming in my next post!

Valentine Stripes

Happy February! Being the hopeless romantic that I am I start thinking about Valentine's day as soon as the New Year is over. Well lets be honest I love any reason to celebrate {which you know if you're a frequent reader} Just a walk down the pier for sunset is reason enough for me to get gussied up and excited.

I consider myself blessed every morning when I wake up to the handsome man I share my life with so I can't think of a better holiday then one I get to celebrate my love for him {mushiness ends there I swear!
Yeah, yeah I know. Some people are major Valentine haters. "You should show your significant other love all year round", "It's another holiday you have to spend money" But no hate here, just love

This year my honey and I will be spending it a little different than years past. We'll be starting our evening at a couples massage {which if you haven't done I highly suggest -- you both get massaged and neither of you are left with sore hands and asking "is it my turn yet?!", amaaaazing} and instead of trying to come home and rush to get ready and make it out to dinner we are opting to stay in and cook a meal together. Whats on the menu? Oh just some Lobster {droooollll} Lets see how this turns out considering I'm much like Carrie from Sex and the City, a 'I store sweaters in my oven' kinda gal. But I'm working on it, ya'll!

I am hoping it turns out better than his Valentine breakfast I made last year. A word to the wise, adding red food dye to scrambled eggs may sound cute but it looks like a scene for a horror movie, ladies. I still giggle picturing his face as I brought it to him in bed...

Now onto the outfit...
Just because we are staying in for dinner doesn't mean I won't be sporting my red, pink and hearts all week long. This little number may accompany us to some drinks for the evening after we have stuffed our faces on lobster tails.

I can't seem to get enough of bold black and white stripes so when I did some Christmas returns at Express and had some store credit I paroozed the racks and stumbled upon this pocketed piece of perfection. I'm a little obsessed can you tell? Paired with festive red blazer, cognac wedges and jews and the holiday is well represented.
