Patterned Shorts remix

A few months back I posted a casual beach look with some of my favorite summer shorts, you can see that post here. Well, its been months and I'm still just as obsessed with these shorts. Thats when you know you made the right purchase. For a dinner date I decided to jazz them just a bit while still keeping the overall look casual -- and that sentence really encompasses the overall atmosphere in our little beach town.
My Cake for Breakfast ampersand tee has become a summer staple and has easily been paired with just about everything in my closest. My fav shorts were no different. A simple tee, patterned short, a tailored blazer and bright clutch and you have a great summer date night outfit. Simple yet so many fun things in one outfit. How do you style your favorite patterned shorts?

Pineapples have transitioned from summer barbecue food and pina coladas to gracing the front of almost every tee, tank, and button up in stores this season. And I'll admit, I'm loving every second of it! I ordered my first pineapple tee a few months back and it has gotten a ton of wear since then, as evidenced in many instagram photos. Pineapples then started adorning my walls with adorable prints and then I stumbled upon this beauty. Not only can I wear them occasionally on a tee but I can now wear them much more frequently on this adorable clutch from Alola Maui. I mean their name itself just makes me happy!
For tonights dinner date I took some color inspiration from my cute new accessory. A black pixie pant paired with a fun flawy black crop top and a motorcycle inspired vest made for a flirty yet casual look for a bite to eat. And I will say this, I have never been stopped by so many gals asking about my bag as I did this night!

Backless & Comfy

When headpieces started to make their reappearance (as all fashion does) I quickly paired them with their old stereotypes. Knowing that wasn't quit my style I thought "those are pretty" and went about my shopping days. Fast forward a few months and headpieces went from flowers and twine to gorgeous chains and bits of bling. I was in love. And I'll have to admit I am now in love with headpieces of all shapes and sizes, flowers included, irony at it's best...

A few weeks back I shared these amazingly comfy patterned pants with a casual blouse and sandals, all inspired by my friend Abby at The Fabulous Life of a Natural Disaster. If there is one thing I love most when shopping its finding an item I can immediately picture how to style for a casual night of walking the beach and a night out for drinks with my honey. These pants did just that for me. For dinner and drinks I paired these fun pants with a fun backless blouse, lace bralette and a gold headpiece completed the look.

Hawaiian Flowers

Surprise! Two posts this week, yeah I'll admit that almost feels silly typing. To think that this thing I love so much, blogging, has gone from once a day to only once a week seems a bit foreign to me. But I will say this, blogging has taken a step back because so many other wonderful things have stepped up. I can't be upset at that right? Right.

This weekend was no different in the busy department. If you follow my instagram -- @xochristinemarie -- then you get a glimpse into what my weekends consist of. Saturday started by joining a ton of OC/LA bloggers for an amazing brunch in Newport Beach. My full belly then jumped into a bikini (probably should have thought that one through) and my honey and I jumped in the water and tried paddle boarding for the first time. We had a great time and, as usual, he was a pro by the end of the of it. Aside from his one mishap of sliding straight into a parked boat, that is.
It is no surprise I am a sucker for anything that resembles a beach; starfish, plamtrees, pineapples, if it screams beach, I want it. This dress was no different, I picture a night out in Hawaii sipping piña coladas. Mmmmm.  Grab a panama hat and some strapping sandals and I am a happy gal with visions of luaus dancing in my head.

Black Lace

A few posts back I discussed my  love for black throughout the spring. I'll have to admit, this is new for me. My closet is full of neons, whites, and just about every summer pattern I've ever come across, so the fact I have been gravitating towards black has made me question my inner beach gal quite a bit lately! Although summer will forever mean brights and whites I have found fun ways to make these black pieces acceptable for my beach lifestyle.

Cut offs and a lace bralette help me remember it's the time of year to show some skin and soak up the sun! I layered some of my favorite bracelets and bangles and chose to show my pop of color in the form of a bright lip today. I am obsessed with BITE beauty colors at Sephora and if you have haven't checked them out I highly suggest you go take a look, a definite summer must!
