Ombre Maxi & Pineapples

I like to consider myself a simple girl {although my boyfriend would say differently}. Give me chocolate and I am guaranteed to smile. Some other guaranteed smiles? A good sunset, some good friends, and the beach. Wait, did ya'll know I like the beach? haha. You know this girl not only smiles with anything beach related but my insides jump with joy and I am at peace. When I laid my eyes on this ombred maxi you best believe my insides were jumping with joy and I could not wait to frolic along the beach and throw on some heels for a dinner date with my handsome in this show stopper.

As soon as I received my dress in the mail from The Mint Julip I ran to my room to try it on {what really happened is I ripped open the box and stripped down in the living room} and the second thing I did was say 'hmmm, what on Earth kind of bra will I wear with this?!' which I am sure defers many people from backless dresses and tops such as this. Well I wouldn't let that minor detail keep me away from sporting this dress around town. {Scroll down to the bottom to see where I was able to find the perfect bra for all your backless dress needs!}
If you follow my instagram -- @xochristinemarie -- then you saw my birthday posts where I was donning some new arm candy. Only this time it was more Spice Girls era and worn on my upper arm, which I have to say is a look I am again obsessed with! Since all of my beach looks these days wouldn't be complete without a dash of pineapple my Alola Maui clutch really helped complete this black and white ensemble {and if you haven't checked out Alola Maui you are missing out! They just released some new pieces on their instagram and I can't wait for my next bag to come in the mail!} Now hurry hurry and go snag this dress before summer is gone!

Looking for the perfect bra for any backless look? For this look I picked up the Shantina Lite bra from Wal-Mart for under $20! It's an adhesive bra that was just the trick I needed to make this look work!

Casual with a pop of Glam

Moving. is. exhausting. Wait, exhausting doesn't even quite encompass it. I still can't believe we have already been California residents for a full year and it was time to pick out our next apartment. It's been a busy summer considering most apartments in the downtown area we currently live in tend to go the same day they are listed. So you have to act fast. We've spent most of our evenings driving around trying to spy some 'For Rent' signs and our mornings scanning the rows and rows of craigslist posting, it's been anything but fun! Fast forward a month and we are finally moved into our new place! After a tiring week of renting Uhauls and trekking back and forth, I can officially say we are all moved into our new place! {twice the size, ocean view and a ginormous deck! -- You best believe through all the sweat, messy buns and aching muscles I still have a smile on my face}
Since we have been busy unpacking, reorganizing, and getting our lives back together we have managed to sneak away a bit for a quick bite to eat. I was eager to actually brush my hair out and put on some makeup but wasn't quite ready for heels yet -- I'll save those for this weekends anticipated date night. So I paired my favorite casual tee with some comfy chucks and a touch of {much needed} girly bling. I can carry big boxes with the rest of the men but after a few days I miss my sparkle and mascara!

Seafoam

This post is a special one. For my birthday 2 weeks back my parents and sister flew out to California to help me celebrate. It was the first time I had seen them since Christmas and it was the first time my sister had been to California since we moved out of San Diego when she was 10! So to sum up their vaca it was a ton of doing all the 'Cali musts' which of course include a trip to Disneyland {ours lasted longer than most at a family record of 14 hours -- I am still tired just thinking about it} and many walks down the pier and along the beaches of Huntington and Laguna. But my one request while they were here? An update family photoshoot. While my sister and dad threw in a 'ugh' or two as they got ready -- clearly they aren't accostumed to as much picture taking as I am! --  they all knew just how special it was since our visits have come so far and few due to distance so they were happy to make one of my birthday wishes come true.
For our family photos our location decision came pretty easy -- the beach, hellloooo -- but next was to plan our attire, which would be color coordinated of course. I chose my favorite sea foam green maxi shirt and a simple white button up tank. The wind caught my skirt just right through the shoot for some pictures I will hold near and dear to my heart in between the daily phone calls and weekend FaceTime chats.
