Adios Fall

Has Thanksgiving really already come and gone? I hope you spent it surrounded my family, friends and endless casseroles! As I mentioned in a previous post, this was our first Thanksgiving spent away from our family, which I had a bit of a hard time accepting {what do you mean I have to cook?!} But all the casseroles turned out awesome, the turkey was juicy and my heart was full after FaceTiming our families and being surrounded by friends.

So not only was this the first Thanksgiving spent away from our parents, it was the first Thanksgiving spent in 80 degree weather. Yup, you heard that right. 80 degrees here in SoCal. Just when I post about finally getting some cooler weather and looking forward to really diving into my Fall wardrobe we get graced with another heatwave. But no use in complaining, I've embraced this crazy season and  smiled because next month I get to dive into my closet and reintroduce all things sequins, reds, sequins, greens, oh and did I mention sequins??

Adios Fall, Thanksgiving, and pumpkins, see you next year! Bring on Christmas!

Girls Night Out

Blogging in Orange County has changed my whole outlook on this 'hobby'. It has certainly changed my wardrobe and all concepts of what are acceptable to wear in each season {hello, its November and I went to the beach in bikini 2 weeks ago} but most importantly it has made me fall in love with the community. You don't have to look long or hard to find another 20 somthin' year old gal who loves all the same things you do, which has been so much fun.

Last weekend I met up with some of my favorite OC Bloggers who I sometimes forget this crazy internet world brought into my life, because now they are just my girlfriends. Hannah, of Champagne Lifestyle on a Beer Budge, Kathleen, of Carrie Bradshaw Lied, and Abby, of The Fabulous Life of a Natural Disaster, met at a local wine bar for a fun girls night out. We literally chatted until the place closed, sipped wines, and munched on fabulous cheese pairings.

For any girls night a fun heel and an awesome clutch are a must in my book. This fall colored clutch I have been wearing this month was the perfect pop of color for an otherwise neutral outfit. Since our California Fall temps are still lingering in the 60's & 70s a light cardigan is all you need to keep warm and, I must say, I have been obsessing over this oversized cardigan!

Fashion Island Disney Christmas Tree Lighting

If y'all have read my past Christmas posts then you know this gal right here is Christmas Crazy. I absolutely adore all things Christmas -- the decor, the clothes, the scents, the events, the music and I love more than anything the extra acceptance of proclaiming your love for Jesus this time of year. I want nothing more than to get dressed in reds and sequins, listen to Christmas music while enjoying a sip of Champagne, heading out with family and friends and then ending the night with a Christmas movie and snuggles on the couch.

Although, I have a strict 'no Christmas tree until after Thanksgiving' rule {which I actually broke last year, real strict huh?} I am sticking to my guns this year. Growing up it was always a tradition to eat Thanksgiving dinner and then run to the attic and begin dragging all the Christmas boxes down. However, this will be the first Thanksgiving in 26 years that I, unfortunately, won't be spending with my family, which I still don't think has sunk in. I am a gal all about tradition and family time so I just may wake up Thanksgiving morning to run and put on the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and it will  hit me when my mom and dad aren't sitting on the couch next to me. So to keep from sobbing the holiday away my honey and I decided to come up with our own tradition this year{which I will share later}.  Heck lets be real, to keep myself from sobbing. I think he'll be okay considering he has spent the last 4 Thanksgivings with my family and not to mention one away in Afghanistan.

Since I have promised to wait until Thanksgiving night to decorate our own tree it doesn't mean I can't enjoy the beauties already decorated around town. This year I was lucky enough to be invited to Fashion Island's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting & Disney Show and I jumped at the opportunity to attend!
I threw on a festive get-up, drank pomegranate mimosas, enjoyed delicious appetizers and desserts, watched the amazing Disney performances and dancing under the 'Snow' that fell later that night. Oh, and watched the ginormaous and gorgeous tree light up for the 2014 Christmas season. What a way to kick off the holiday.

Although I am still posting my favorite Fall looks here is a sneak peak at what to expect from my holiday ensembles this year. If you are in the Orange County area I highly suggest marking next years calendar for this fun event {hint, this is will be one of our new traditions!}

Lights for Fall

It's no secret I am all about white after labor day. But what happens when labor day has past and now so have the warm temps? Its not quite winter so they wouldn't fall under the "Winter Whites" category so the white pants and light colors are easily stuffed in the back of the closet and overlooked for warm Fall colors. Not. in. my. closet. No matter the season or reason, I am forever in love with light colors and as mentioned in previous posts its all about how you style it to match the season. By pairing these light colors with a suede shoe and a wine colored lip and purse, they don't say summer, but "I'm ready for a date night and capping the night by the fireplace."

Fall Maxi

Cali girls, I have some really exciting news. Today marks the last day of our heatwave! Thats right, no more 80 degree November weather. Next week marks the beginning of low 70s and 60s! Which for California means most natives will be bundled up in scarfs and boots, which makes this East Coast gal giggle, but hey I will take it! Most would love the idea of an endless summer, but when it becomes your reality we itch for a break from the heat and a hint of cooler weather. Grass is always greener right?

If you have been following along then you know I am a sucker for a summer fedora or panama hat. I think I may own 5, which when you take a look at them and can barely see a difference, is certainly a bit excessive. But I just can't say no!

Although it may still feel like beach weather, the panama straw hats sadly have to wait in the closet 'til next year.  So whats the next best thing? To make my love for hats Fall appropriate. When it comes to my favorite accessory it's only right I pair it with some of my favorite clothes. This skirt...ah this skirt. When I first laid eyes on it I had one of those moments. You know, those moments when the clouds part ways and it appears like heaven shines down light directly on that item. Yup, one of those. I was in love. I had a few summer events it made its appearance but now that maxi season has passed I needed to find a way to make this Fall appropriate. Thanks to the warmer tones and a Fall accessory it made for a possible transition.

Now to take a step off the beach and enjoy these low temps next week....
